2007-10-02
With the new quarter just started, we've managed to break the 250 VM mark. Counting the management VMs, we're over 300! All seems to be working well.

I've added lots of documentation on installing and using the core Usher system, as well as, clients and plugins. Each client and plugin now has a separate page with descriptions, requirements, installation instructions, and component specific details. Look it over when you have an opportunity.

The Documentation and Development pages have finally been updated for Usher 0.3. Let me know if anything there is confusing.

We are now producing daily snapshots of Usher, Usher clients, and Usher plugins. See the Downloads page for details.

At long last, Usher 0.3 has been pushed out to the public Mercurial repository. I'm currently working on documentation for the new plugin architecture.

Our recent submission 'Usher: An Extensible Framework for Managing Clusters of Virtual Machines', has been accepted by the Refereed Paper Program Committee for the LISA 2007 conference. It will be presented later this year at the conference in Dallas, TX.

A recent design change has caused us to reconsider release of Usher 0.2. The refactoring is expected to take 2-3 weeks. Sorry for the delay, but it will certainly be worth the wait. Those who really want the Usher 0.2 code can send a request to Marvin McNett.
2007-04-29
A new version of Usher (0.2) with many new features and bug fixes is now being tested here at UCSD. Updates to the online source code and Development pages will be made on May 16, 2007.

Ganglia usage statistics are now being maintained here.

A live demo and presentation of Usher was given today at the CNS Research Review. Both were well received. Usher's been running one week and all is well.

Usher has been semi-publicly released to the SysNet group here at UCSD. We'll finally get see how it performs under load.
2006-08-20
The Usher site has been switched over to Trac. This will facilitate collaboration and Issue tracking. In addition, you can now browse the Usher source code by visiting to the Browse Source page. (Update 2007-01-17): The online source code is now outdated. Source updates will correspond with the release of version 0.2 (milestone:Release-0.2).
